Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Anthony “Antonio” Furia announces his passing on April 3, 2020, at the age of 92. Devoted husband of Carmela Furia for 57 years, loving father to Vincent, Catherine and her husband Stephen, Anthony and wife Diana, and loving grandfather to Anthony and Gianna. Antonio is also survived by his sister Rosetta and her husband Angel, his brother Domenic and his wife Patricia and many dear nieces and nephews.

Antonio proudly served in the US Navy from 1944 – 1951 fighting for the country he loved in both WWII and Korea. He graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting where he pursued a career in cost accounting, he was a member of the American Association of Cost Engineers, serving one term as AACE President.

His commitment to his community later extended to the town of Watertown, his lifetime home, serving on the Board of Appeals for twenty-two years and was a lifetime member of the Watertown Sons of Italy Lodge Piave Fiume.

While accomplished in his professional and personal endeavors, his greatest love was for his family and his beloved Carmela. He will always be remembered for his unending compassion, infinite patience and kindness. We will miss his easy smile, sense of humor and wisdom regarding all things.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org. and Disabled American Veterans, DAV.org.
