Obituary

Diane Cutrona, current resident at New England Home for the Deaf (NEHD), Danvers, MA and longtime resident of Watertown Ma., died on May 10, 2020 due to complications related to COVID-19.

She attended American School for the Deaf (ASD) in Hartford, CT and later transferred to Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Ma. She graduated from Perkins School for the Blind.

Upon graduation, Diane moved to the Arsenal Apartments and began working at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, Ma. She was an important part of the Hospitality Department where she worked in the laundry. Diane was gifted an oak rocking chair from St. Elizabeth's honoring her 20 years of service.

Diane excelled in many areas and never let her DeafBlindness hold her back, including travel utilizing public transportation to and from work. Diane was very creative and artistic. One of her art works was given to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and hung proudly on display.

Most recently, Diane had taken up residence at the NEHD in Danvers MA. where she re-engaged in her love of arts and crafts. She often gifted people with her work. Diane was a kind and generous soul.

Diane had close relationships with people she worked with, family, and friends within the DeafBlind community. She enjoyed learning about people, their hobbies, and families.

Diane will be sorely missed by her community, family, and friends.
Diane is survived by her brother Dennis of Arizona. Diane will be laid to rest privately with her parents Conrad & Yvonne.
A memorial service will be held at a later date....

Thank you for opening my eyes to the world of Deaf-Blind interpreting. Thank you for being a great teacher. I cherish the memories of us at NEHD and all the gifts you made for me. Thank you for my sign name and for every laugh we shared. I will miss you so much 🤟🏻. I would like to know when services will be held.

My condolences to all who knew and loved Diane. I will miss her sweet smile and gentle touch when we talked. I cherish her gifts of art she shared with so many. A pencil drawing of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan she once made while at Perkins still hangs in the stairway of the classroom building.
