Survilas, Dorothea P. (Skibauskas) of Arlington. Passed away at Lahey Hospital following a serious stroke. She was stricken at home. She was the daughter of Andrew & Petrone (Bobbinas) Skibauskas. She is survived by her husband Henry and her daughters and their spouses: Carol and Allen Gauthier of Ledyard, CT and Diane and Kent Wilkins of Arlington, MA. She met Henry in Thompson CT on a church picnic. In May they would have celebrated 70 years of wedded bliss.

She is survived by her 4 grandchildren and their spouses: Steven & Candice Wilkins from Westford, MA; Chris & Aga Gauthier from Hermitage, PA; Kyle Wilkins from Providence, RI; and Alynn & Daniel Czako from Newington, CT. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren: Ella & Aulden Czako; Savannah & Jordan Wilkins and Lena & Natalia Gauthier. She loved her great grandchildren and took great pleasure in their visits with her. She couldn’t get enough of them and always asked that they make the trip to Arlington to see Nanny, which they were always happy to do.

She took adult education knitting classes in Arlington and became quite the knitter. She made Argyle Socks yearly for Henry and was always knitting sweaters, suits, gloves, mittens, afghans and slippers. She was always the “Queen of Crochet” and made many items and even taught her daughter to crochet over the phone long distance. She always had a ball of crochet thread and a hook in her pocket, ready to crochet when there was some “down time” from her busy schedule.

On weekends she would spend quite a bit of time at Polka festivals all over the East Coast. She could really dance and thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to those events. She had quite the social life and it continued until a few years ago. Many summers she spent living in New Mexico because of Henry’s career in photography and really grew to enjoy the southwest.

She was employed by Bank of America and upon her retirement Henry and she travelled frequently. Whenever there was breaking news in the world her family would have to think “where are they now?” Cruises, casinos, bus trips, the Islands; she really enjoyed all things ‘travel’.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON on Tuesday from 4-7pm and to her funeral mass on Wednesday at 11:30 am in St. Agnes Church. Burial is private. To send an online condolence visit

Dear Henry, Diane & Carol,

I am so saddened by Dottie's passing. Henry, you and Dottie, were my parents' oldest and dearest friends. I always looked forward to your yearly visit to Long Beach. Dottie was always so warm and loving. She made everyone feel so good to be around her. She was very stylish, too. I enjoyed hearing about your trips and cruises. I loved how you two and my parents would play cards together, and I remember you dancing at my wedding. Heaven has a new angel, and the earth is a sadder place. I will cherish her memory, and I am grateful to have known her. God bless you all. With love, from Philadelphia, Joanne Russell
