Frank L. Furlong, III, 66 years of age. Frank died on November 24, 2019 of natural causes. He was diagnosed earlier this year with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Frank graduated from Watertown High School Class of 1971. He was a Veteran of the Navy and was stationed at the Naval Base San Diego. He retired from the US Post Office after 25 years of service. In recent years, Frank moved to The Villages in Florida, where he enjoyed riding around in his golf cart, and especially enjoyed playing cards. He was loved and will be missed by his family. He leaves his parents and siblings: Frank and Lorraine Furlong, of Watertown, MA; Darlene and Barry Checchi of New Durham, NH, Brenda and Mark Doherty, of Reading, MA and Michael and Kara Burbank Furlong of Andover, MA. He also had many nieces and nephews that loved him: Jenna and Eugene Gibilaro, and children Joseph and John of Brooklyn, NY; John and Nicole Checchi and children Adriana and Jack of Beverly, MA; Laura and Rachel Doherty, both of Reading, MA; and, Ryan, Dylan and Miller Furlong of Andover, MA. He will be remembered fondly by his aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Frank was pre-deceased by his close longtime friend Donna Jackson and son Corey Jackson, of Revere, MA. He also leaves longtime close friend Penelope Wheeler and her son Adam Wheeler, of Lynn, MA. Frank was also pre-deceased by his mother Joan Scott Furlong and his grandmother Emma Furlong, both of Watertown, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home 761 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown on Sunday December 1st from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Visitation will conclude with a funeral home service at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at, by mail at Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611, or by phone 888-733-6741.

To the family of Frank L. Furlong III,
I am so saddened to learn of Frankie's passing. I have fond memories of Frankie and Darlene visiting us when I was growing up. We spent a lot of time together as young children. My deepest condolences to you all. May he rest in peace.
