Obituary

With love and gratitude for his life, the family of, Frederic Gerard Seavey loving, husband, father, and grandfather, announce his passing on February 28, 2020.

Characterized with a gentle heart, competitive spirit, and devotion to family. Fred sought truth and honor in all aspects of his life. Fred was born May 24, 1928 in Somerville, Massachusetts where he enjoyed his early years, forming lifelong friendships, and developing a love for cars. He fought for his country in 1950 and remains an honorable veteran of the Korean War. Later, his career led him to the Boston Edison Company where his diligence earned him a successful career. He met the love of his life, Eleanor (Ellie), and the two were married on September 3, 1955, beginning their admirable journey of 65 wonder years. Together they raised their three children, Karen, Frederic Jr., and Jim in Arlington, Massachusetts.

Fred and Ellie lived a fruitful life traveling the world, exploring the country RVing, enjoying family vacations in Alaska, Bermuda and found happiness at his vacation home in Harwich, MA. He enjoyed simple moments, putting his toes in the sand and soaking up the sun at the beach. He loved spending time with his family and was immersed in his grandchildren’s life, where many cheerful memories can be found.

Beloved husband of Eleanor (Lyons) Seavey. Loving father to Karen Huston and her husband Michael of Danvers, Fred Seavey and his wife Sandy of Orono, ME and James Seavey and his wife Allison of Boston. Dear grandfather to Douglas "Mac" Seavey, Meghan Huston, Emilie Seavey and Patrick Huston. Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON on Wednesday, March 4 from 8:00am to 10:00am and to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in the St. Eulalia Church, Winchester. Interment to follow with military honors at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Visit devitofuneralhomes.com to leave a condolence and view a complete obituary. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, online at www.shrinershospitalforchildren.com.
