Obituary

Nancy P. DiSciullo, born June 11, 1930, passed away at age 90 on September 12 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Beloved daughter of the late Nicola and Rosa DiSciullo (née DiSciullo) who emigrated from Fallo, Abruzzo, Italy in the early 20th century. Nancy is survived by her sister Luci Barden of Anaheim, CA, and predeceased by her brother, Eugene V. DiSciullo (James King); niece Jeanne DiSciullo of Gorham, ME; nephew Mark Roux and wife Lori of Truro, MA; niece Anne DiSciullo of Malden, MA; nephew John Barden and wife Lori of Gardnerville, NV; nephew Steve Barden and wife Leanne of Lakewood, CA; niece Nancie and husband Doug Fogleman of Lake Elsinore, CA; nephew Chris Barden and wife Melanie of Whittier, CA; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Born in Boston’s South End, Nancy loved the town of Arlington where she lived on Mt. Vernon Street for more than 70 years. Nancy could be found working at the polls on Election Day and was a member of the Chatterbox Club. She attended mass daily at St. Camillus and sang in the choir.

Nancy began her career at age 17 as a legal secretary for Levin & Levin of Boston and Quincy where she worked until 1986. After a hiatus to care for her ailing parents she worked for an Arlington attorney.

Nancy was pre-deceased by close friends Marguerite Badala, Elena Trunfio, Elsie DiSciullo, Jean Frascia, Angie Amato, Charlotte Fredo, Shirley Runge and Carmella DiSciullo, a tight-knit, lively group who spent many wonderful times at Charlotte’s cottage on Plum Island. Additional close friends included Mary Carney, Amy Oppedisano and others. When her friends could no longer drive, Nancy would bring them to medical appointments and take them grocery shopping.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, and musical performances of all kinds. Gregarious and thoughtful, Nancy could strike up a conversation with anyone. She always remembered the birthdays of her friends and family, and her birthday card was always the first to arrive! She attended countless family events, performances, fund raisers and graduations. Family and friends will long remember her delicious cherry pies baked with the cherries she picked from her own tree.

A private graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements under the care of DeVito Funeral Home of ARLINGTON. Please visit devitofuneralhome.com to view an online guestbook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arlington Food Pantry at arlingtoneats.org.

We at St. Camillus Parish will miss our faithful parishioner but take comfort in knowing we have another singing angel in heaven. May she enjoy being reunited with former parishioners and friends Charlotte and Florence among many others and pick up where they left off chatting and enjoying each other's company. -Bob Tosi Jr.

To All of Nancy's family: I remember Nancy from the South End of Boston, and her parents, and sister Lucy. She was one of my sister Carmela's friends and relative. i remember going to the Lady of Pompeii church and we would all gather after Mass and socialize. Nancy was in the Chatterbox Club with my sister and other friends.. They included me sometimes and we all a lot of fun. Nancy came to my home al lot when my children were little. Thank you Anne for keeping in touch, Angela (Di Sciullo) Goguen, Ipswich, MA
