Obituary

Pant, Ramesh “Ram” of Cambridge passed away on October 19. Ram was deeply committed to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Renu Pant; loving brother to Kumud Pant still living in Nepal; proud father of his sons Casey Pant and Dr. Russ Arjal and their wives Suzanne Pant and Genevieve Arjal. He was a passionate grandfather to his grandchildren Evan, Reed, Henry and Soren. He also maintained a dear friendship with his former spouse Dr. Laurie Pant.

Ram was born in Kathmandu, Nepal on July 1, 1941. He was in one of the first classes to attend the St. Xaviers School in Godavari. At the age of 17, he came to the United States with his brother, Umesh Pant, where both of them attended Michigan State University. Ram went on to obtain his Masters in Engineering at Northwestern University and his Masters in Business Administration at Purdue University.

At his core, Ram was a teacher and an entrepreneur who carried a deep respect for the opportunities afforded to him in the United States. After holding many positions as a businessman, including working for the Xerox Corporation and Compugraphic, Ram also spent some years as a professor at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. Starting in 1993 he developed software services businesses that connected Indian software companies such as Wipro, and later Birlasoft, to American healthcare and financial services clients. His last project during his "retirement" was starting WisdomStars, an online platform that connected business clients to consultants such as university professors and retired executives.

Ram was a special kind of man. Like many successful people, he had a deep respect for education and its ability to help a person accelerate professionally and personally. He was always willing to help his contemporaries and relatives with career and education advice. He maintained a limitless support for those he loved.

Services will be held at the DeVito Funeral Home 761 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown, MA on Saturday, 10/26 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Procession will then follow to the Mount Auburn Cemetery at 580 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA. Visit devitofuneralhomes.com to send online condolences.
