Obituary

With heavy hearts the family of Wally Raymond wishes to inform all his Facebook friends as well as all of his friends, of his passing on June 28th. As some of you know, Wally fought an amazing battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was originally diagnosed in March and completed two rounds of chemo drugs which we all hoped would help. Unfortunately AML had other plans for him. He was a fighter right to the end and will be missed by so many. Wally is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Jeffrey of Seattle, Washington; his sister, Barbara and her husband Frank; and his brother, Jim and his wife Christine.

Wally’s career included computer support, service and sales. Climbing the ladder of success he managed several departments and organizations. He attained the level of VP at Laptop Super Stores.

Wally was certainly a special person and loved by so many. He was an avid golfer and was the backbone of the Scraggy Neck Golf Tournament which will celebrate its 50th anniversary this Fall. Wally also followed all professional and non-pro sporting events. Cheered for many and held disdain for some. His sense of humor was known to all of us, and most of the time he’d let you know (with no holes barred) how he was feeling or where you stood. You could always count on him for advice, guidance, and that wonderful smile of his.

Being in control of his life until the end, we have followed his wishes. His wake/funeral will be held at the DeVito’s Funeral Home, 1145 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, on Tuesday, July 2nd, from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
